About The Awards

The Virginia Reggae award recognizes those who work tirelessly to keep the Virginia Reggae music scene vibrant. The V.R.A is the people’s award. It is totally up to YOU the general public to decide the outcome. YOU decide, from the submission of names to the final winners! Voting is the only way to guarantee that your favorites win the V.R.A. Any works done between January 1, 2009 and January 31, 2010 are eligible for the 2010 awards.

The cut-off date for submitting names is February 12, 2010 @ 7pm.

Submitting names:

  • Anyone can submit names of individuals affiliated with the Virginia reggae community
  • Individuals can submit their own names.
  • Everyone is invited to submit names for each category.

The top three (3) nominees in each category will move on to round two. The more you submit names, the greater the chance of your favorite being one of the top three nominees. Only the top three (3) will advance to stage two (2) of the voting process. Names must be submitted @ VirginiaReggaeAwards.com

Round two (2) voting begins February 15, 2010

In round two, you will be asked to vote for a winner in each category. The nominee who receives the most votes will be the winner.

  • There will only be one winner per category
  • The favorite song award is the only shared award. This award is only shared if someone other than the singer wrote the song.
  • Voting results will not be visible to the public; this is to ensure that winners will not be known until the actual award ceremony.
  • Awards are limited to no more than three(3)per individual or group.
  • Individual's cannot compete with groups of which they are a part or affiliated, in any category!
  • In all fairness it seem one way to limit all ten (10) from being awarded to one entity. In any event, if the situation arises, the group or individual will be asked to voluntarily eliminate themselves from the number of categories it would take to rectify the situation. We will only decide as a last resort.
  • affiliates of virginiareggae.com and virginiareggaeawards are ineligible to be nominated for awards.

Final voting ends at noon on 14th May 2010 (Award Show date is Saturday May 15 2010 )..
